Modern carpets resist stains a whole lot better than carpets from the past. They're made up of different materials than they used to be and this helps it to resist staining. Even if you did you carpet stained it can come clean with carpet cleaning soaps. There are lots of things out there nowadays that can get a dirty carpet clean and looking just like new.
